This is especially common in children because their Eustachian tubes \u2013 which equalize air pressure and allow fluid to drain \u2013 are shorter and more horizontal than adults\u2019.<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/9780071\/\">Speech-Language Effect<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>Fluctuating hearing loss can affect a child\u2019s performance in the classroom.
